Psssh, I was kidding myself all along. I wired it all up, today. And it works! All that's left is to mount the IR sensor somewhere on the front.

The power is tapped from the bottom right. The loop to the left is the currently un-mounted IR sensor. And the fat cable in the middle carries the signals that cause the inputs to be selected.
